Acer TravelMate 225X

Acer was one of the few big name manufacturers that were able to meet our stringent pricing criteria. The submitted notebook, the TravelMate, is not a so bad overall, but it couldn't win out against the smaller manufacturer's abilities to get top components at short notice. Where Acer excels is in after-sales support.

The TravelMate 225X's one-year warranty comes with a two-hour Express Service guarantee which is very impressive.

Although borderline in comparison, this notebook comes with a 1.33GHz Mobile Celeron, 256MB of RAM (8MB shared), a 20GB HDD and a DVD-ROM. This isn't bad, although in the performance stakes it couldn't muster it with the desktop processor-enabled notebooks.

However, and this is a major point, the Acer had an awesome battery test result of 260 minutes.

Overall, the Acer is an appealing choice for the road warrior.
