Looking for a secondary Blu-player for the bedroom? For a limited time, Sanity is offering the Sony BDP-S370 for just $99 - less than half the original retail price.
There was a time when every Blu-ray player cost over $1000, with the very best models costing three or four times that much. These days, you can pick up a high quality player for under $200 - or even less, if you know how to sniff out a good deal.
Sanity is offering the Sony BDP-S370 for just $99, while stocks last.
It's worth noting that the BDP-S370 originally hit stores in August last year, which explains why it's so cheap. But don't let that put you off - its performance is easily on par with current generation models.
We've played around with the Sony BDP-S370 extensively, and we think it's a rock-solid player for the asking price.
In addition to its BD playback capabilities, the BDP-S370 is extremely proficient at upscaling regular DVDs. This is one area where entry-level Blu-ray players sometimes fall down, but the BDP-S370 does an excellent job.
Sony has also thrown in some impressive extras with this player, including two USB ports, 7.1 channel High Definition Surround Sound and access to a free BD-remote app that let's you use your iPhone/iPod Touch as a remote control.
In addition, it features Sony’s Bravia Internet Video service, which gives you access to a wealth of online video content including Catch Up TV services from the ABC, SBS and Seven.
While it lacks modern features such as 3D functionality and inbuilt WiFi (an adaptor is required for wireless set-ups), the Sony BDP-S370 remains a good option for budget-conscious shoppers.
