MWC 2012 – Samsung and Toyota team up for Car Mode smartphones

Samsung's smartphones will soon be able to talk to your Toyota using a custom app.

Toyota Samsung Car Mode app

Hot on the heels of Mercedes' new voice-controlled in-car multimedia system, Toyota has announced its own next-gen in-car interface – with a little help from Samsung.

Samsung smartphone owners will soon be able to use their blower to connect with Toyota's In-Vehicle Infotainment (IVI) system using a new Car Mode app.

The Car Mode app lets you use your Samsung phone to add voice control, multimedia capabilities and internet services to your Toyota motor. Expect to see navigation and location-based features packed into the app, too.

Toyota cars set up for the Samsung Car Mode app should be launching in winter – give it a few years and our phones will be driving our cars for us.
