Huawei MediaPad 10 FHD – overview
Huawei has brought its A-game to the tablet arena here in Barcelona with its recently unveiled MediaPad 10 FHD tablet. Powered by the company's very own K3 1.5Ghz quad-core processor, the tablet boasts a bright 1920x1200 10in IPS display and 8MP camera, all packed into an iPad 2-matching 8.8mm thin body. So how does it fare at first glance?
Huawei MediaPad 10 FHD – build and design
The Huawei MediaPad 10 FHD's aluminium-alloy unibody feels nice and light thanks to its 598g weight. We did however find a noticeable amount of flex when we tried to twist it in our hands, and although it would never naturally have to undergo such strain, it isn't the best-built tablet we've handled.
Huawei MediaPad 10 FHD – screen
We found no complaints with the brightness of the Huawei MediaPad 10 FHD's bright IPS display nor did we have a problem with its sharpness, thanks to its screen's 1920x1080 full HD resolution. We also enjoyed the extra Ice Cream Sandwich real-estate as a result of the high pixel count on offer.
Huawei MediaPad 10 FHD – performance
It may not be a Tegra 3 quad-core processor, but Huawei's home-grown 1.5Ghz quad-core K3 silicon handled all the games and multitasking that we threw at it. Not a bad show for the world's smallest quad-core chip.
Huawei MediaPad 10 FHD – first impressions
The Huawei MediaPad 10 FHD ticks all the right boxes associated with power, weight, thinness and performance, though it is let down by a slightly sub-par build quality. Given that we looked at a show floor model however, we'll reserve our judgement till we rip the packaging off our very own review unit in the not-too-distant future.
