HP boosts premium PC and laptop lineups

Both the Elite and Envy ranges get a facelift with new convertibles, laptops and all-in-ones

HP has revealed its latest lineup of notebooks, desktops and displays, with its focus clearly on making work more mobile for business users.

Although there are no new major changes with these PCs, they've all been refreshed to offer a few new features designed to keep core customers happy.

The HP Elite 1000 series has been updated with the launch of the EliteBook x360 1030 G3, Elite x2 1013 G3 and EliteBook 1050 G1. They all include HP's Endpoint Security Controller, HP Sure Start Gen4 and HP Sure Run packed into their sleek shells.

The EliteBook x360 1030 G3 is the smallest in HP's range of convertibles. It weighs 1.2kg, even with a 13in 4K screen. There aren't a huge range of options here, which is why it's so light. The Envy x360 15 offers either Intel or AMD Ryzen CPUs, GeForce MX 150 or Radeon Vega graphics, and a 1080p or 4K screen with Sureview technology to stop people being able to see your screen over your shoulder while you're working.

The next step up in the convertible arena is the EliteBook 1050, another slim notebook that's designed for more serious users. It features Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 graphics, a six-core Intel processor and up to four terabytes of SSD storage, with a 15in screen (in a choice of 4K or 1080p resolutions) but it weighs 2kg.

New additions to the Envy range include the Envy 13 Laptop, Envy x360 13, Envy x360 15, Envy 17 Laptop and the Envy Curved AiO 34. HP has introduced its HP Command Center into these new devices, which allow users to optimise their system performance, even tweaking fan noise and temperature with CoolSense tech.

The Envy 13 and 17 notebooks have a new, sleeker design, with thinner bezels than their predecessors. They both feature 8th Generation Intel Core CPUs, Nvidia GeForce MX150 graphics and screens are available in either 4K or 1080p resolutions.

HP has also announced the Envy AiO 27 and Envy Curved AiO 34 with a new design, with built in Amazon Alexa support and Nvidia GTX 1050 graphics. The EliteOne 1000 AiO has been designed for video conferencing with screens measuring between 23.8in and 34in.

“HP's undisputed design and engineering leadership is delivering the ultimate combination of style, performance and versatility,” said Ron Coughlin, president of personal systems. “With the world's smallest business convertible, the first detachable and tablet with an integrated privacy screen, the widest curved all-in-one, and other industry-leading innovations, our new Elite and Envy portfolios create unrivalled premium PC experiences.”
