DCS World announced, DCS: Combined Arms available for pre-order

There's awesome things afoot if you're hardcore military sim fan, thanks to the folks at Eagle Dynamics.

July's a packed month for the folks at Eagle Dynamics.

If you're not familiar with that particular developer, I'd put good money on a bet saying that you're probably not a fan of hardcore military sims, like DCS Black Shark or DCS: A-10C Warthog. These games are not for the feint-hearted... and I'm very ashamed to admit that I am most definitely remarkably feint-hearted.

Nonetheless, Eagle Dynamics two recent announcements are pretty intriguing. First up, the entire DCS series is about to a single, unified interface for its games, called DCS World. In the words of Eagle, "; you can think of DCS World as a simulation operating system." Each game now plugs into this one framework, whether its made by Eagle or third party developers.

Impressively, not only is DCS World available now, and for free, but it also comes with a similarly free sim all its own, of the Su-25T attack aircraft, complete with a campaign and single missions. Essentially, Eagle wants DCS World to act as a single hub for all its games, complete with news, a unified campaign system, and more.

Speaking of unified campaigns, the other big thing on the DCS horizon is DCS: Combined Arms, which does exactly what it says on the tin. This top-level simulator puts you in command of ground units, artillery strikes, and even singular vehicles. You can mark targets for CAS flights in multiplayer games, too. It's pretty much an RTS, first person armour simulator, or aircraft command sim if you already have Black Shark or other flight elements.

Tanks, eh? Maybe I could be up to some armoured action...
