Asus announces new Z170 Pro Gaming/Aura motherboard

Now ready to handle your own 3D-printed parts, and lit as all get out.

Asus' new motherboard has all the usual mobo bling. The Z170 Pro Gaming/Aura has a mess of gaming and overclocking features, from Sonic Radar II so you can effectively cheat in games (well, it's also handy if you're hearing impaired, but still), to LANGuard for superior network traffic and 5-way Optomisation for more reliable and powerful performance boosts with a single click.

But the real stand-out of the board is Asus' new, patent-pending, mounting system for 3D-printed parts.

This means that 3D-printing enthusiasts can download or even design their own custom nameplates, design new protective 'armor' and cable-management devices, and even extend the board's audio area with included M.2 nuts. It's a pretty niche option, but if you're a maker, well, this could be the board for you.

Also included is Asus' Aura lighting technology, which lets you completely customise the board's built-in LEDs.

Here's the full spec-list, and we're waiting on pricing because Asus can never tell us that up front.
