Rumours of the iPad 3 undermine launch of second generation tablet, with an Apple staffer warning: "don't get your hopes up too high".
Apple product launches normally hold near mystical status, but the launch of the iPad 2 later today has already been undermined by future gazing toward the next version of the tablet.
The iPad 2 will feature only minor modifications and improvements and people looking for a major leap forward in tablet technology should wait for the next version, according to sources quoted by the Cult of Mac blog.
The Cult of Mac quoted an Apple staffer who said that development problems in version two would mean it was a minor upgrade that might leave Apple fans disappointed.
“For the iPad 2 don’t get your hopes up too high,” the blog quoted the source as saying. “That’s all I’m going to say. They’ve had a number of problems along the way, and the third-generation iPad is the one to make a song and a dance about.”
The iPad 2 was announced earlier today. It features a thinner body, a HDMI port and a faster processor.
