Music to your ears.
They may have looked a little odd, but Apple’s AirPods are no laughing matter – something you would know if you tried to get your hands on a pair before Christmas. They were sold out pretty much everywhere.
With that kind of success, surely the AirPods 2 are an imminent inevitability. But what do we know for sure? Could the AirPods 2 hit shelves in 2018?
The most recent information to come to light regarding the next instalment of Apple's AirPods is that they'll almost certainly feature wireless charging, thanks to some new iOS 12 beta images. The images in question show the AirPods 2 alongside a wireless charging case, suggesting that the popular wireless buds will complete their wireless transition, becoming fully AirPower-compatible.
This necessitates the addition of an external LED – a marginal and all-imporant addition to the current charging case, whose LED is ensconced inside the case. Why the change? It's likely that the external LED will be used to let users know when their device is charging, and when it is fully charged.
What's more, the renders are accompanied with model indentifiers; the incumbent AirPods are dubbed '1,1', with the new instalment alluded to as '1,2'. If there were ever a sign post, this feels like it.
