‘Tis the week to buy cheap games in Australia

If you’ve been waiting to burn your games budget, now is the time.

Harvey Norman and JB-Hi Fi want you to break your piggy bank open and spend your gaming dollars on whatever games you’ve been holding off on buying. Yes, digitally distributed software still tends to win out over retail prices, but for console games and lovers of boxed-copy games, it doesn’t get much better than this.

First and foremost, Harvey Norman has a short-term sale that ends today (forgive the late heads up), so you should definitely check that out if you haven’t already ... like, right now. [Ed Note: the discounts were still being advertised on the Harvey Norman site when this was posted]. They’ve got a massive 50 percent off all games. Yes, you read correctly: 50 percent off ALL games. That means you can snag the newly patched Batman: Arkham City for $29.44 or the game that everyone’s talking about at the moment, Mass Effect 3, for a flat $36 fee.

If you miss that sale, all is not lost. Although not as drastically good as Harvey Norman’s price cuts, the reasonably priced range of JB Hi-Fi games has been slashed by 20 percent. Best of all, the price cut applies to all of their games until Sunday, the 1st of April.

The big question is this: are these discounts enough to tempt you to part way with your hard-earned cash? If so, what games are tempting you?
