The GeForce 7600 range of cards came out in 2006 - but they look like something from the Dark Ages!!!
My mate Nic Healey, the editor on PC & Tech Authority, has decided it's time for some spring cleaning. Now, when you or I spring clean, it's probably just cleaning a few rugs, tossing out some old magazines, and generally tidying up the joint.
Nic, on the other hand, has been living in the one flat for ten years, mostly by himself, and has a spare room that is more akin to some blackhole for dead technology than an actual physical space. Truly, it astounding the crap he is bringing in to the office. He's got an article on a rather impressive find up on his site at the moment, but he's also been generous with us.
We get a still in the box Galaxy GeForce 7600 GS!
It's been sitting next my chair for days, while I work out what to do with the thing, until today I figured it'd probably be interesting to put the thing side-by-side with a more modern card. It was then that I realised that the 7600 series is only six years old... I mean, that's not long at all, but if someone told me this card was recovered from King Herod's PC, I'd not be surprised. I can almost not remember PC tech ever looking like this.
But it did. However, in those six years, it's become a WHOOOLE new boardgame. Hell, even the boxes are worlds apart!
Sure, there's the giant size difference, but check out the art. A skater?! Really? I had to be reminded that back then, Tony Hawke was still popular on PC. How far we've come... Click through the gallery for some more amazing comparisons between these cards.
