It's a shame 2009 lost its winning crown upon yours & other independent AV testers. Detection this year was a little more of a letdown - that said - updates can make it stronger throughout the year, make KIS2009 raise her proud head once again.

KIS2009 still has my Winner stamp of approval - for My Review see Kaspersky Internet Security 7 http://www.pcauthority.com.au/Review/106754,kaspersky-internet-security-7,userreviews.aspx

At the time - there was no entry for review of Version 2009. So I added a dual review.
On this product: Based on 2008-2009 versions of the Internet Security Suite.

I love KIS 2009. Hoping that in 2010 it gets even stronger!

I have been using it for years and was surprised when top spot was taken by BitDefender world ranking (not the ranks given by the mag). I also use bitdefender and find it a bit more time consuming to setup and get smooth. Detection is still high but is a pain in arse out of box when it keeps nailing legit websites like ebay. Killing its phish filter stops this but still, Kaspersky trumps it for fast, secure and potent.

Funny you say that - A customer had brought around a laptop to be fixed the other week.
His - webcam was shagged and he couldn’t get any Attached .docx file in email or hotmail etc.

He said - what's up with my laptop, I don’t know what’s happening. This started the other day.

I asked him what he'd done different on his Lappy - he's like umm? My Antivirus ran out.
And my mate gave me a trial copy of Bit defender Security Protection Suite.

I’m thinking Ooooookay - well leave it with me and I'll check it out and see what I can do.

I noticed all the troubles he was having on his laptop where related to the Bit defender.
It damaged his built in Web Camera drivers - so it was having errors [error app window cannot load webcam driver - driver damaged or missing] because it was on Start up services in MSCONFIG - you'd get this error app window each time the laptop loaded.

And when I saw what was happening when you'd try to Open or Save As the Office .docx attachments. I’m thinking - erm that’s strange, it's like they start to download and nothing, they stay stagnant! - zero bytes - zero download from where? Can’t see and server timeouts.

So I thought, for a start this 'Bit Defender has got to go'! hehe. What a piece of crap.

Took it off, downloaded and installed the new Webcam drivers it for the built in webcam [fixed]

Installed new 12 month subscription AV/Sec package and tried again with the attachments. And Problem solved! All the .docx attachments where now accessable and where able to be downloaded.

It was the Bit defender causing all the probs.

Amazing how AV packages can really mess with things isn’t it?

I have only used the internet security and anti-virus editions of both. I don't beleive in "Security suites", they are just band-aids for people who shouldnt be anywhere near a PC unless they have money to be getting them fixed.

Could be worse, you can wait and see if AVG will go through and strip out system32 files and render system dead...

hehehe.... don't get me started :) that's such a peice of Crap!

Shame shame  - on AVG false postive flagging legit OS files, I think the nicest thing about their product is that they have a free version and they purchased Link Scanner. lol - Thats about it, aside from that - keeps me in busines because so many pplz use free AV protection. Hence me getting more and more infected computers to fix

So... I [Noo-Complain!] accented in mock lingo 8-[

See why this relatively unknown, but simple, efficient and affordable package holds its own against the likes of AVG, Norton, Kaspersky and McAfee.

A powerful and capable suite with some excellent features, although it isn’t the easiest to use, nor the cheapest around.
