Hi All

Now that I have this brand new Vista “house”, I have to move all my “stuff” in to make it my home.

Now, some may say that moving your old “stuff” into the Vista “house” is fraught with problems, as the “New House” requires new stuff, but that I found not to be true.
Sure, you can’t expect to load Win 95 stuff on and expect it to work, out of the box, but contrary to the horror stories out there, there are Vista drivers available for most of the hardware you would have used, at least back to Win 98. You just have to Google for them, download and install. This, by the way is pretty painless in Vista.
I have managed to get up and running an old Canon BJC 4300 printer (my favourite) with a vista driver from Canon .
All my other hardware was just plug and play.
There was one notable exception and that was the Toolbox and OCR Program (the program that allows you to convert scanned text into proper Word text) from my Canon Scanner. They would just not load from the disc. However, the Photo program that did load has a toolbox that can be used to operate the scanner remotely. OCR, well, as I rarely use it, I will fiddle with that on a rainy day.
So, not so hard at all to move your old stuff into the Vista “house”.
I am well pleased.

Cheers
