A couple of months ago I purchased this modem along with a National broadband service from my local ISP (Grapevine) after 5 years of dial up. Yes dial up. Sorry for making you cringe out there. It has worked perfectly from day one. I turn it off after every session and then when I turn it on again. It works straight away. I thoroughly recommend it.

Yes, the newer Netcomm modem/router are quite good, so far.
I hope they don't break down just as my warranty runs out, like it did to my old Netcomm one!

Got NetComm's NB5plus4W thru my ISP. Very happy with it's general performance. Mine is left on 24/7 but occasional drop-outs initially blamed on the ISP may have been the modem. Rebooting fixed the problem & you're doing this daily. Too much hassle with two separate offices in our house.

I have one of those modems running here at home. It has 3818 hours of uptime at the moment, which isn't bad. I don't think that figure is reset for manual resets or connection down time. There was a period where it would drop out regularly while I was on holidays around the world (Talk about a pain in the arse, trying to remote desktop back to a PC that doesn't have internet just doesn't work...)

It's admin interface leaves a little to be desired. Port forwarding isn't as simple as it should be, and sometimes just doesn't work. The "Simple" port forwarding is a pain in the arse to set up, and you have to know about subnets to set up the "advanced" port forwarding (not that it's complicated, but most people dont' know about them).

It fails at assinging static IPs to DHCP clients. I have it set up to assign my PC to .4, but it still gives me .100.

It sports "support" for DynDNS service, but when I set it up to update my account, it got my account suspended three times in four days. I'd barely call that "support"

But, on the whole, it does the job. If all you need is a modem that passes packets through, it's perfect. If you actually want to set up a server, or do anything milldy technical with it, look elsewhere.
