Hi everyone,

i was planning on building my first computer, however rather than purchase all the components at once, i was planning on buying them over time than putting them all together.

Now i was planning on spending in total around 2000 (with monitor but not OS) with about 150 to spend a week (on average) so i expect it to take no more than 5 months.

Is this to long? by the time i come to build it would it already be outdated?

Is there an order of components that i could purchase to 'future-proof' as much as possible? (for example buying CPU and MoBo last?)

any help that anyone can offer would be greatly appreciated

In my opinion, you would be far better off putting aside your 150 a week for five months, until you have your two grand, And then buying the best you can get for that price.
If you do choose to do your "extended build" then yes, i would suggest getting the mobo, cpu and ram last, and gpu before that.
start with the non-performance items, such as case, optical drive(unless you want blu-ray), Inputs, and PSU.
In the middle would be the HDDs, monitor and any other devices.

If it can't be fixed with old fencing wire, buy some new fencing wire...

What you need to bare in mind is that todays rooster is always going to be tomorrows feather duster.
like the kiwi said, put the money aside and buy the gear at the same time.
patience suju89.
Also if you get the bits at the same time you should qualify for an OEM version of the OS of your choice.
