I am an N97 owner and I find this article rather strange. admittedly the scrolling feature for menus doesnt make sense although nokia is apparently correcting this in the next firmware update.
the keyboard layout makes perfect sense to me. why would the directional pad and space bar be placed in a traditional sense when it is designed to be used with your thumbs, hence the directions are for your left and the space is close to where your right thumb sits.
with regards to the dial pad there is a button on the main screen in the middle at the bottom, i can even see it in the article picture. Not really that hard to find.
I think this article gives the phone a very bad rap when it is really quite a good piece of kit. Once you get used to the navigation its very easy and just as effective as the iphone, plus its got a ton more internatl memory, a better camera, fm transmitter etc etc.
