My headset just randomly stopped working tonight.
The sound is very soft so when i have the volume set to max i can barely hear it.
The strange thing is is that the windows startup and shutdown music are still played at the normal volume.
I have tried restarting the computer and also reinstalling the drivers, other than that i have no idea

have you checked the volume controls?
EG, right click the speaker icon in the task bar and check the settings in the volume control.
I know you reckon the windows sounds play at the normal volume but have you tried another set of headphones?
If none of that works, you might like to try going into device manager and deleting all the audio stuff then reboot and let the machine find it again and reinstall it.

Mistakes are a part of being human. Appreciate your mistakes for what they are: precious life lessons that can only be learned the hard way. Unless it's a fatal mistake, which, at least, others can learn from.

Ask questions. There's no such thing as a stupid one, just stupid answers. (mostly)
