Thats why they have the little tick-box when installing it making sure you are NOT using it for illegal activities. Pffft, as if.
I have found FrostWire to be the best of the Gnutella clients being basicly a freeware of the the LimeWire Pro. Sad part is 80% of the content found is either virus ridden or fakes.

I should have included this bit PCAuthority wrote:With a guarantee of no spyware, adware or bundled software, it also aims to be the most carefree. Hmm, nothing about Trojans or viruses... and a reference URL for the basis of the thread. FrostWire you say?

Doesnt cover the content you DL with the client. A word of warning to all those planning on or currently using P2P apps like these, for crying out load, make sure you have a very good and pro-active internet security program running at all times. Stupid freeware crap like AVG is NOT cover. On side note with any of these clients, make sure you go through ALL the settings and kill off the sharing. Most apps will go through and automaticly share pretty much all your vital files areas to the world including Documents, Music and Pictures. Also kill the thing from automatically starting with windows and make sure it shuts down when you tell it rather than it just closing to the toolbar. Too many find out the hard way when they cop a huge over-use of data.

Greetings from the Darkside!!! Saw your light on, thought I would drop in. This P2P thing is quite a bother in Windows unless you are "rugged up" really well, the nasties will surely get you. BUT, with Linux, as you said Nat, it's rare if you catch a "sniffle" with P2P, but you can become a carrier by email and infect all your friends. Friends, I might add who will then bring their sick puters around so that you can make them well again. My advice, don't be a carrier. But all of what I am saying you already know, don't you??? I know this sounds like overkill, but I have a separate little OC'd AMD Box running PCLinux just for P2P and downloads in general. It's like my little "gate keeper". Any emails that are received on this box are routed via my home network to my buttoned down Windows puters to be checked before they are forwarded to my friends So far so good! Linux does help relieve some and I stress, some, of the concerns about wandering around in the P2P Universe, the rest is just using common sense and not going where no sane person would go anyway. Now that I have that off my chest, how about some of those Cookies, I don't eat much. Cheers Malai5
