There are issues with the site crashing or having slow downs days but the more annoying part is having to sign-in so often. I tick the box to keep logged in but if im out of site for longer than a few minutes, sign-in again. The real bitch of this is when it decides I am not logged in when im trying to submit posts that then go the way of the dodo wasting my time.
The site activity is slow enough as it is (not many getting involved), maybe time to address why.
P.S I forgot to ask this, please dont go the way of the other PC mags that flog themselves stupid worrying about and supporting the droves of mobile phones and other tripe that have bugger-all to do with PC's, the things your mag is supposed to be about. It's for this reason I refuse to buy most mags these days as they contain less and less on PC's hardware and software and are filling up more with adverts and crap on things that are NOT PC's.

Actually, this site has always had problems for me while posting. If I leave it too long before I upload the post I get an error message and i cannot upload. I have to click back to the post writing box, copy and past my post to Word, log back into PCAuthority find the subject, open the posting box, paste my post into the box and upload. Pheww, it's a process that I have to do every time I cross some kind of time "barrier". What is the deal with the "Time Limit" thing??? Cheers Malai5

Hi Malai5, Hehe... Funny you say that - I noticed the other week; this very thing! And did the same *As you do. Though; I start to write the post or review in window, copy & paste to Office then refresh page to see if I'm still logged in, if I am still logged in; then [Paste & Post] - if I am no longer logged in, I have to Sign in and the Paste - Post. Note: To all readers, So many sites do the *Login or Post. Time-outs as a Security Precaution, it can get pretty annoying, though is there for our safety and site security. Maybe: The PC User site:- needs to add a notice on this site - to let user know the time out times? And/or - to Refresh the page or Re-sign in? Or a notice about the *time out feature when you sign up to the forums. malai5 wrote:Actually, this site has always had problems for me while posting. I will second that Cyb. It's a pain in the butt when you get called away to do something and come back and you missed the "cut". If not abolish the time cut off, make it longer. Cheers Malai5

There's no need for the time-out. If you're on a public computer, then logout. Regardless, if you tick the automatic login option, you expect to have no time-out anyway. Vito Cassisi: Tech Blog

I to suffer from premature time out while posting. As a work around, I keep the main forum page open in another tab. If I get a time out message when trying to post my carefully scripted and succinct post, I go over to the forum tab, refresh it, log in again, then refresh the tab I've been "creating" (read bull$hitting) in. It refreshes, logged back in with my masterpiece still in place, waiting to be published to the now receptive interwebs. When I first tried this I would ctrl a, ctrl c in the text area to save my stuff to the clipboard before refreshing the editing tab but found this to be redundant. Still... belts and braces.. EDIT: of course, I guess all those IE 6 Luddites are screwed Edited by Slatts: 15/2/2009 09:35:27 AM

Looks like the site mechanic has been in and done a tune up. I left a forum tab open for 5 or 6 minutes, returned to it, opened a thread from it and found I'm still logged in. Well, I wrote the above about 20 minutes ago. I just now clicked on the preview button and it worked. Well done, the site mechanic!

Yes, I too have noticed that I'm remaining logged in after several days however, if my IP rolls over then a sign-in is required but at least my posts are not going south.
