What a ridiculous article! It is full on nonsensical and conflicting statements. The figures do nothing to support the moniker that "Mac is set to become the dominant operating system in the world". Perhaps it is supposed to be ironic? If not - complete disaster Nick!

Comment made about the PC Authority article:
Windows 7 can't stop Mac OS X ?
Windows 7 can't stop Mac OS X The latest figures from Net Applications suggest that Windows 7 has failed to attract any interest and the Mac is set to become the dominant operating system in the world

Agreed yazooed. I've read the Electronista article and it seems to be an attempt at a droll response to said article. And yes, Nick has missed the mark and bombed.

What is this?! This is the most biased, pro-apple article I have read in quite a while. "A whopping 5.27 percent", "Although it has been on sale for a staggering 9 days", "After failing to stop the rise of the mighty apple" Oh my gosh, stop this torture now. The agony is to much to bear. Microsoft is MIGHTY. Apple is just a droplet of water compared to MS.

I'm really disappointed about this article. People should not put naive articles like this on PCAuthority...

You can lead a horse to water but you can't teach it to understand irony.

"Of course this is much more economical than spending more than a hundred dollars for a full version of Windows 7" This sentence looks like a frustration of the author. It's true the mac is somewhat more expensive. The build quality is much superior too. You pay what you get for. And design has never been cheap. As more people buy Macs, the cheaper they'll become. Apple simply is innovative. Look at the lates 24" iMac. Look at the Magic Mouse. It's just awesome. My Macbook Pro will become 4 years in february 2010. Instead of running slower and slower, as does a windows PC, Snow Leopard has actually made it faster as compared to its purchase date! The laptop still closes and opens perfectly without having to use much force. Yesterday at work I saw yet another PC laptop, an Acer aged 1 year with the mounts broken off! 1 year people!

A Mac isn't perfect either, certainly not, but it does the job sooo much easier, sooo much sweater and people notice... I don't hate PCs or windows but it's like comparing a VW beatle to a Mercedes or a BMW.

One more thing, I agree that the claim that Mac OS is to become the world's dominant OS is really really silly. I mean MS still owns about 90% or more of the PC market. At work, all machines are PC running XP. Although, I know of at least six colleagues who use a Mac at home... 4 of them also bring their macbook pro at work to do the chores. You can say Apple is steadily but assured gaining. But there's a lot of distance to catch on up. There are simply too many applications that are Microsoft Only and while JAVA could make a difference there, I can't stop niticing how .NET is overtaking at the moment. And that is not a good thing for the market as .NET is platform bound. But its once again reality.

one of the comments on the electronista site did make quite a valid point -
"Within 9 Days Windows 7 managed to get nearly half as much market share as Apple in the past 20 years to achieve."
Funny stuff..
