I read PC Authority regularly and am a bit of a gadget junkie. My 3 favourite electronic gadgets are : my EEPC my blackberry & my DS i (I recently traded in my DS lite)
Why do I like these gadgets?
I purchased an EEPC running on Linux 2-3 years ago and its still running!!!!I take it every where I go and it has been very useful for skyping & internet surfing particularly whilst overseas - not so much in Australia - wireless hotspots far too slow!!!!! It may not be able to run business applications but it is good enough to store & view holiday snapshots. Drop it and it wont fall apart either. I like the chinese dictionery as well as the games included on it (although they are very basic).
I purchased my Blackberry about 3 - 4 years ago and guess what it's still running as well!!! I was going to upgrade to the Blackberry Storm but after feeling the so called touch screen said no way -the Blackberry Bold was very highly recommended to me however it does not have the features I wanted. I like touch screens & stylus not tiny qwerty keypads. This is the main reason I have kept my Blackberry for 3 - 4 years - larger keys!!!!!making it easier to type emails - its no good having a nice big bight screen on a smart phone and a very good email on the go system when you cant type emails easily! I am thinking my next phone maybe the latest Nokia - not a touch screen but it does have a very nice slide out keyboard for emailing and running on the Symbian system (which has been around a while)it should be pretty good.
I purchased my first DS lite last December and took it overseas with me - first frustration with Nintendo - where is the dual voltage???????!!!!!!!! none of this third party univeral adapter business you can buy - transformers not recommended - I was told it will blow up my DS!!!!!!I recently traded in for the new DS i - what a disappointment!!!!! - I want my old DS lite back!!! who cares if it doesnt have a camera on it to keep a video diary - you can take photos with your smartphone which may be a better camera!!! who cares if you can't surf the net on it - it's not as easy as finding the nearest hot spot & start surfing the net - there is stuff to down load before you can actually surf ie not plug & play - I can do this on my EEPC!!! or get a dongle for wireless on my laptop. New games? not many released yet so what's the advantage???? What happens if you have the very old game boy games you want to play on your new DS i - cant do it! and what's with the SD card reader - I'm having problems with a new one I have purchased - can someone tell me why I can only view photos taken from my DS i and loaded onto my SD card on another device(I viewed a "mutated" photo I took & edited on my DS i on my fuji digital camera OK)and not the other way round ie photos taken on my fuji digital camera on my SD card could not be viewed on my DS i device. Is it me? is it the DS i? or is it the SD card?? Other complaints - the shell of the DS i may be "finger print" proof but did anyone notice how much easier it gets grotty then the DS lite's shells!!!!!!!????????
