Brilliant hard drive with blisteringly fast file transfers and a 32 megabyte cache .
The only down side is that the one they sent me was DOA . To be fair the Seagate technical support guy I spoke to was friendly , helpful knowledgeable , almost spoke English and even apologized that the drive was dead and suggested I return it for a replacement .
They do have a fabulous 5 year warranty .
After waiting 6 weeks for a replacement I think the most fabulous thing about the warranty is that you have to wait 5 years for a replacement . My new computer [ all but the hard drive is still in boxes ] Nice one ! No one from seagate or the vendor has contacted me about a replacement , but I have phoned them often enough and they are happy to confirm it was dead . Im thinking of having a memorial service .
The next hard drive I buy will be a Samsung or a Western Digital

I would have expected better from them. Lately Western Digital have been the price/performance king with their 640GB drives. Apparently the 640GB Samsung variety are also top notch. Vito Cassisi: Tech Blog

Pretty much nothing is open now but on Monday Im ordering the 640 gb Western Digital Black series drive . Its slightly faster than the seagate but was out of my budget running up to christmas .
If seagate ever get around to honouring the warranty I will put it in my wifes computer for data back up .
