Who LANs here? Who runs LANs? Loves or hates LANs? Which LANs do you go to? I LAN all the time. I play a major role in running a 40+ man LAN where I live. I attend a few others around (a house LAN, and a public one are the regulars, plus the private hall LAN I help run). I'm heading down to Melbourne in January for Respawn LAN, which I'm really looking forward to. I love my games. But I more love the social aspect of LANs. And the challeneges presented in running it, such as playing a game, organising a comp and selling food all at the same time (then I wonder why I'm so dead tired at the end of it...) ^_^

I be a lanner ... Once a month ...have been for a few years now .. the group I LAN with was at one stage a fair sized (46 ish people) called Nomanzlan based here in Melbourne but since they ran it as a hobby they never wanted to make money out of it and after a few issues with the last venue they had it's gone back to been a private group of Lanners in someone's garage 1small group (10-12 people) but still heaps of fun ... we run a couple of netgear gigabit switches and just have a nice friendlty gaming session
...madness be my friend...

having your license does help quite a bit.
It means you can go "Oh, hey! There's a big huge LAN on two hours away next month. Let's go!"
Mordie: That's what LANing's about. A nice friendly gaming session. Doesn't matter how big it is, as long as it's friendly, and at least a little bit of gaming happens. ^_^
<3 decent gigabit stuff. One of my mates picked up a 48 port managed DLink gig switch. It proved very nice as a main switch for our last LAN. And yay for port aggregation! =D

Mistakes are a part of being human. Appreciate your mistakes for what they are: precious life lessons that can only be learned the hard way. Unless it's a fatal mistake, which, at least, others can learn from. Ask questions. There's no such thing as a stupid one, just stupid answers. (mostly)
