Here in the PC & Tech Authority offices we've been watching the development of Boston Dynamic's Cheetah robot with a heady mix of excitement and terror. The concept of a robot capable of running has been worrying enough, but this latest video shows that the scientists behind Cheetah have been working hard at speeding up its movement.
The result, as you can see in this video, is a mechanised beast that can outrun the fastest man on earth. You know, the sort of technology that will be deployed on the front lines when the robots finally rise up and take over. The only saving grace for now is that all testing is being done with a tethered prototype of the robot, but next year it is set to run free for the first time.
