"A700 A Joy to Shoot with"

Posted May 13, 2008 4:48 PM
Pros:
Built in stabilization for ALL lenses
Great Dynamic Range
Great color accuracy
Easy controls that can be changed rapidly
Solid Build
Great Image Quality

Cons:
User Memory access could be easier
Just a bit too much noise reduction at ISO 6400.
I have owned the Sony A700 since September of 2007. It is a joy to use. I never miss the top LCD because with the Quick Nav turned on, the back LCD is better than a top LCD. It is by far the easiest camera I have used to see and make changes with.

The built in stabilization means that some of the amazing used lenses made by Minolta that can be bought at low cost are all stabilized like expensive newer lenses from Nikon and Canon.

The build of the camera is top notch with a magnesium outer shell and hardened aluminum inner frame.

The 3 inch 900k pixel is full VGA resolution.

The camera has been tested by DIWA Labs (google it) to have better color accuracy and better dynamic range than the Canon 40D or Nikon D300.

What amazes me is that I can get A3+ sized prints that are worth framing at ISO 1600 and even ISO 6400 can turn out decent 5x7 to 8x10 prints.

This camera is a great combination of Minolta history and Sony innovation. You will not be disappointed.
