[UPDATED] Google Nexus 7 16GB available in store for $20 more than online
16GB version will cost $20 more in traditional retail stores than the Google Play price, while the 8GB model will only be sold online.

Information about the retail availability of the Asus designed Google Nexus 7 has arrived, with the 7in tablet available in retail stores from late July.

The tablet will be on sale in most major retailers, including Harvey Norman, JB HiFi, Dick Smith, Bing Lee and more.

Whilst the 16GB version of the device is currently available for pre-order from the Google Play store for $299, the same model will have an RRP of $319 if purchased offline from one of the above retailers.

No announcement had been made on the availability of the 8GB model in bricks and mortar stores, although it is priced at $249 online. UPDATE: Asus PR spokespeople have confirmed that only the 16GB model will be sold in store.

At the time of writing, Google Play said the Nexus 7 would ship within “2-3 weeks” although it was not clear how this would compare to the in store availability of “late July”.
