We've upgraded - the new and improved PC & Tech Authority site
Allow us to introduce something exciting – the new and improved PC & Tech Authority site!

Our new website is a major revamp that focuses not on gimmicks, but on making the core of the site better than ever - our reviews, benchmarks, technical discussion and analysis of the latest and greatest products and technologies.

In a nutshell, we’ve tried to make the site easier and faster to use, while adding to the meat – articles about pulling apart machines, benchmarking systems, technology debates, anything about the PC. Our newly updated site puts the full force of our Labs online: you’ll get more benchmarks, test results, specifications and group tests than ever before.

When we first started redesigning the website, we didn’t want to change for the sake of it. What the site is about, who it is for and the fundamental approach to the site’s navigation are staying the same. What we’ve focused on is adding new features and improving the core parts of the site:

  • You told us the A-List needed improvement. The list of best handpicked gear is sparkling new. We’ve tweaked the categories and everything mirrors what you see in the print magazine.
  • Easier to find your way around. Our Group Tests now have a handy product carousel so you can find all the reviews. Reviews now have a cleaner layout, with the summary up top so you can see things like price and ratings at a glance.
  • Benchmarks, benchmarks, benchmarks. In the past you had to dig up old copies of the magazine for these. Now you'll start seeing benchmarks laid out in reviews, and very soon you'll be able to pick a category – graphics cards, for example – and see a leader board showing all the test results for everything we’ve tested.
  • We get asked a lot about “Should I buy product X, or product Y?” A new Advice area will let us publish some answers. We won't promise we will answer everyone's questions, but the ones we do pick will be featured here.
  • When we spot a good deal, we’ll post it in our new Tech Deals area.
  • We’ve changed to a different search system. Finding that article or review should be easier now.
  • We’ve changed to a simpler and better tag mechanism. If there’s a special topic you want to read about, click its tag and you’ll get more relevant articles.
  • If you just want the features about about certain subject areas, now you can filter that way.
  • Some people just want a quick-hit of non-PC content - now they can dip into our Gadgets section. This section features Stuff, our sister publication that features everything from robots, remote controlled cars, iPod docks to toys. If there's a new iPad or Xbox rumour, no doubt they’ll be on it. The intention here is to separate the toys and gadgets into an area of their own, leaving the rest of the site more focused on the PC and related technology. We've done this in response to the feedback we've been getting from you.
  • We’ve moved to the Disqus platform for commenting which will hopefully be a much better system for you to make comments and have discussions. Disqus has email notifications and hopefully better anti-spam. Your login stays the same.

On top of this we've added a bucketload of new reviews to the site.

In doing this, we’ve made the site an even better place to visit if you have a mind for tech, a bit of curiosity and a willingness to learn and debate. And hopefully we’ve given you even more reason to be regular visitors PC & Tech Authority

No doubt there’ll be some growing pains as the new site gets settled, and you can email us here with any suggestions and add comments below.

In the meantime, we hope you enjoy it!
