Tech Deals: get free Navman map updates for 3 years
With maps costing at least $100 for some Navman units, this new offer of 36 months free map updates with MY series models could come in very handy.

If you've never updated the maps on your GPS device the cost might come as a bit of a shock. If you're not already eligible for free updates, it could cost you in the order of $100 or more.

If you're considering one of Navman's MY60T, MY65T or MY75T units, Navman is currently offering free map updates for 36 months. In addition, there's a $20 discount on those units.

There are some conditions: the offer applies from April 1, and the web site says the unit must be purchased before July 31. According to the web site, you must fill in a claim form online, which must be received before 5pm on August 31. Units bought on eBay aren't eligible. The list of conditions are here.

Navman is also offering 24 months of free map updates for the EZY30 and EZY40 units, as well as the $20 discount.

We covered the Navman My75T last year, when Navman and Lonely Planet launched the built-in "Scenic Drives" feature, which includes pre-planned routes with information from Lonely Planet.

It may interest some GPS buyers to know that free maps are a selling point for some brands. Navig8r is one brand offering "free lifetime maps" with units such as the i50.
