For the price, this unit doesn't have a lot going for it. It is clumsy to operate, and the display is too small. It has a slot for a Memory Stick, although a 'MagicGate' adaptor is required.

It will store any file type, but will only play back tracks encoded in Sony's proprietary ATRAC3 format, via the bundled software. A tedious process, particularly if you already have a large number of MP3s. Sony MiniDisc players however, can directly import their existing tracks.
Sound quality was less than expected. Although the bass was strong, and the high tones sharp, the mid tones lacked some depth and clarity, probably due to the extra compression from the ATRAC conversion.
