Identified during installation by the operating system as a Pioneer DVR-A06P, this unit was later confirmed to be an OEM version of the same drive. Both feature a circular air vent on the rear of the chassis, designed to allow for optimum airflow while in operation. Differentiating the two is a separate software bundle of Sonic MyDVD, Roxio 5.3.5 and InterVideo WinDVD 4. While physically identical, the two traded rankings round-for-round during testing, with the LaCie coming out as third highest performing overall. $50 cheaper than the Pioneer, expect similar performance, although software could well be the determining factor here.
