At Computex today, home grown Taiwanese firm Acer unveiled its new Aspire One netbook sporting the Android operating system.

"The Android operating system offers incredibly fast wireless connection to the Internet. For this reason, Acer has decided to develop Android netbooks," said Jim Wong, president of Acer's IT products global operation.

Apparently Acer aspires for this Android based netbook to be the first of several in its line-up, to complement its more expensive Windows OS offerings. It should be hitting shelves in the third quarter.
