Screenshots of what is said to be the next version of Microsoft's Windows operating system have been leaked onto the internet..
[UPDATE: It looks as though the ThinkNext.net blog page with the screenshots mentioned below has gone down.]

The ThinkNext.net blog posted a range of screenshots over the weekend which it said represents Windows 7.

The images include the start menu and a range of other administration views, such as program lists and the Control Panel. Mainstay applications such as Paint and Calculator are also represented.

Overall, the screenshots show a distinctly Vista-like interface, but there is still plenty of time for tweaks and changes to take place.

There is little text or comment on the blog pages, which seem to be letting the photos and video speak for themselves. So far Microsoft has not commented on the purported leak.

There is currently no fixed launch date for the next version of Windows, but it is slated for release some time in 2009.
