Epson EMP-TW700

Epson EMP-TW700
Appealing in many ways – and could be ideal as an ‘occasional-use’ coffee-table tool
This stable, quiet and well-made LCD projector has both vertical and horizontal lens shift, a test-pattern generator, and a usefully short throw-ratio. A 1280 x 720 design, it includes an HDMI input, and accepts HD signals up to 1080p/24fps quality (scaling the image to suit).

Pretty well sorted picture
Of course, that wouldn’t count for much if the Epson didn’t have a decent picture, but it’s got that pretty well sorted, too. Even with DVD, image quality is fine: sharp, smooth, good with motion and, for its price, reasonably adept with colours and contrasts. However, we’d like more insight into blacks and better skintone accuracy.

However, it's not the only projector at this price - at least in 'street' terms - and you can do better for the money. That’s why, good as it is, the EMP-TW700 stays at five stars.

For
Good blend of sharpness and brightness; decent motion-handling; very easy to use. In fact, We can’t think of any rival that’s more user-friendly or easy to install.

Against
A little pricey.
