The first expansion to Half Life 2 doesn't provide much excitement.
Half-Life 2

Genre: Shooter / FPS, Publisher: Vivendi Universal, ESRB Rating: M - (Mature), Media: DVD-ROM

The Half-Life 2 with Deathmatch DVD collects two of the must-have shooter games, bringing you twice the action. Start out with Half-Life 2, where you return to the alien research facility called Black Mesa. The aliens are now pouring into our world and you'll join the resistance movement to stop them. Battle it out with friends in crazy, realistic mulitplayer action with Half-Life 2: Deathmatch. Then test your tactical abilities with Half-Life: Source -- where the gaming kicks up a notch through the amazing Source game engine.

Half-Life 2: Episode One (Add on) for Windows

Genre: Shooter / FPS, Publisher: EA - Electronic Arts, Platform(s): Windows, ESRB Rating: M - (Mature), Media: DVD-ROM

In this episodic sequel (formerly known as "Aftermath"), players continue the groundbreaking story that came to an explosive halt at the conclusion of Half-Life 2. Players once again assume the role of Gordon Freeman and team up with sidekick Alyx Vance to flee the remnants of a nearly-destroyed City 17 and it's eerily-empty streets. The action begins quickly as the damage to the citadel has been done and Gordon and Alyx must lead the evacuation effort. Enemies previously un-attackable such as crab and mortar synths now stand in your path as you try to help Gordon and others escape the imminent citadel blast. Once again utilizing the Source technology and HDR lighting popularized by Half Life 2, Episode One aims to begin the tradition of episodic content for Half Life fans. Gamers can expect over six hours of game play while taking out enemies with the help of Alyx's pet robot dog.

Team Fortress 2 for Windows

Genre: Strategy, Publisher: Vivendi Universal, Platform(s): Windows, ESRB Rating: M - (Mature), Media: CD-ROM

Originally designed as a mere add-on to the best-selling Half-Life, Team Fortress II is now much much more. Just log on, join a team and choose your role or "class." Because there are nine different classes, such as Infantry, Sniper and Engineer, each with its own goals, methods and weapons, you can choose the one that best fits your style and skills. With its advanced technology, like Parametric Animation, and challenging teamplay scenarios, Team Fortress II is going to blow away the competition!

EMPIRE: Total War, takes on the 17th century on a gloriously large scale

Review Score 5 out of 6

Empire: Total War is a game that’ll appeal to history nerds and fans of previous Total War titles.

Left 4 Dead, close to a truly interactive zombified movie

Left 4 Dead, close to a truly interactive zombified movie

Review Score 5 out of 6

Welcome to the first zombie movie we’ve seen that’s actually any good. Left 4 Dead finally gets gaming away from the trigger-point mechanic: you have no idea if a dozen zombies are around the corner, or one, or none.

Warhammer 40,000 Dawn Of War II, the RPG becomes all-out combat

Warhammer 40,000 Dawn Of War II, the RPG becomes all-out combat

Review Score 5 out of 6

You might expect Dawn Of War II to follow in traditional sequel style, offering a real time strategy experience with more Orks than you can throw a Bolter at.

Far Cry 2 the review - unflinchingly brutal

Far Cry 2 the review - unflinchingly brutal

Average User Rating 3

Far Cry 2 is an ugly game, simply because it all too accurately portrays a modern world conflict in a war-torn African nation.
