Actually the sixth title in the genre-setting Tony Hawk series, Tony Hawk's Underground 2 throws players into a frantic World Destruction Tour against Bam Margera. Grounded firmly in the basics that gave the franchise a cult following, THUG2 still manages to bring a few surprises to test long-haul veterans, and fans will be very happy with the odd retro location and modes from the early days of series. Combos are as important as ever, and players can choose from five modes including Story, Classic, High Score/Free Skate, Online or Two Player. As always, the customisation options are great, allowing players to create skaters, parks, graffiti designs, goals and tricks. THUG 2's story mode is short but well implemented, and an excellent mix of multiplayer modes is available. Unsurprisingly for such a well established title, the control system offers no unpleasant surprises (you really need a gamepad), and the voice work is as grammatically poor as ever! There's no doubt that owners of the original THUG won't find much that's new here, but Tony Hawk's Underground 2 will be top of the genre for some time to come.
