Leadtek's 6600GT offering was a mixed bag this month. It didn't handle our DirectX 8 tests too well, but 3DMark05 saw a complete about face to see it sit in first. Fate is a fickle mistress, however, it sat in the middle of the pack of the pack for the rest of our tests.
Interestingly the card performed identically in Doom 3's indoor corridor shooter and in FarCry's texturally intensive indoor levels while other cards swapped places. A similar result occurred in outdoor more taxing geometric areas such as in our outdoor Half Life 2 coastal demo and FarCry's Treehouse map although the 59.29 average FPS achieved is hardly anything to scoff at.
Leadtek has included a reasonably good software bundle of Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow, Prince of Persia: Sands of Time and the all-in-one I/O dongle that many of the cards this month are shipping with. Unfortunately, when we combine the cost with its performance, it isn't as competitive as the other 6600GTs in the round up.
