If the i-mate PDA2k looks familiar it's because it and the
O2 XDA IIs are the one and the same device, albeit with different branding. Oh, and the PDA2k is silver. All of this aside, the PDA2k is an excellent device. It's obviously one designed for those with a bent more toward PDA usage with a phone secondary, but it carries off both with aplomb.
The key differentiator with the PDA2k over other PDAs (although not the
XDA IIs) is the whopping 128MB of RAM in-built for media and files. On top of this there's a separate 64MB ROM for the OS and an SD/MMC slot for further expansion. With MP3 playback this makes the phone/PDA also function as an MP3 player.
Another function is that the PDA2k's face slides up to reveal a full 39-key QWERTY keyboard so you don't have to use the soft-keyboard or the small writing recognition pane anymore. Both options are still available for traditionalists.
When it comes down to it, the PDA2k is a PDA that has great phone capabilities, and although it's identical to the
XDA IIs the i-mate wins this time on price.
