While the $2500 price ceiling means you're usually picking up larger form factored notebooks with an average 15in display, some manufacturers like Apple and Twinhead have put together smaller ultra portable 12 inch models for those who value size over all else. Lower clocked than some of its competition at 1.4GHz, it does pack half a gigabyte of PC2700 DDR, 3-in-1 multimedia card reader and Windows XP Professional, ideal for businesses working in domain network environments or for the user who values personal data security. The software bundle is a little lacklustre including only a copy of Trend Micro anti-virus. The unit has a combo DVD-ROM/CD-RW, but does offer an upgrade to a multi-format DVD burner at an additional $259 cost. Smack bang in the middle place overall it managed seventh in battery mark and a few places lower in 3D tests. If ultra portability and reasonable battery life are your biggest driving factors, look no further, but for the spec hungry, look at something like a desktop replacement for a bit more grunt.
