Apple 12inch iBook

Gorgeous to look at, the iBook comes up a little short against some tough competition, even at its incredibly reasonable price.

Coming in at the ridiculously low price of $1695, Apple offer a compelling unit for anyone wanting to shift away from the ubiquitousness of Microsoft and the Windows platform.

Coming in at the ridiculously low price of $1695, Apple offer a compelling unit for anyone wanting to shift away from the ubiquitousness of Microsoft and the Windows platform. Supplied with Mac OS X 10.3 and Apple's iLife '04 software package comprising iTunes, iMovie, iDVD, iPhoto and GarageBand and a combo optical drive, you have everything you need to get up and creating music or kicking back and watching a movie. As always, lower clocked than the competition, Apple's 1GHz G4 processor is about half that of the other units. Its real strength lies in its solid build quality, software bundle and swag of connectivity options. Lacking wireless and offering only 256MB of slower PC2100 DDR RAM spec for spec it's outdone at each turn by the more expensive Windows based systems. Even at this price it's hard to not feel there's better value to be found in the Labs winning MSI MegaBook M510C at nearly twice the cost.
