This monitor was physically identical in every way to the AOpen F75PS, aside from the Gigabyte badging on the front bezel. Both featured the same solid metal base, sturdy design and nifty sockets for plugs direct on the back, and there’s no prize for guessing that they performed identically in all of the tests we put them through.
The GD-1703BP performed admirably in most of the DisplayMate screens, although it had a little trouble with white level saturation and the contrasting colour scales, something that affected the DVD playback performance by washing out some colours and dulling others.
The GD-1703BP’s ability to display computer graphics, both 2D and 3D, was as good as the baseline with fairly a clear desktop, and it showed slightly superior horizontal and vertical viewing angles.
If you’ve already read the AOpen review you’ll know the decision between the two here came down to price, pixel warranty and the general warranty. If it was just price, the Gigabyte would be the winner, but it has a worse pixel warranty. The decision comes down to dollars over security, and which is more important to you.
