The FlexScan L557 was a great looking monitor with some top specs, including a high contrast ratio, dual inputs (D-Sub and DVI-D), very wide (and high) viewing angles (170º vertical and 170º horizontal), and a whopping five-year next business day warranty.
In our test suite the FlexScan L557 aced the majority, with high scores for brightness, contrast, colours, blacks, greys and more. It was strongest with chromatics, displaying fully black at 100 percent black and not over-saturating whites. While it looked good with games and video, it was even better displaying text and fine details. Even with really small font sizes the text was highly legible, with crisp delineation between the text and the background. If there was a problem with the screen it was that its colours may have been slightly off, but that was only a minor issue.
The L557 achieved the highest specification rating of all the monitors due to its feature set. The L557 may cost a lot, but it really is good value for money. It’s full of features and quality, has the looks, plus it has a long warranty period and boasts a good pixel policy.
