One of the few projectors to edge up to the $5,000 cut-off mark for this Labs, the Panasonic PT-AE300E proved to be bit of a powerhouse in our test suite. Both it and the other Panasonic projector were highly capable, with the PT-AE300E scoring perfectly for its dark black levels, DVD playback, colour tracking and both colour and greyscale intensity ramps, and highly on all other counts.
It did rate very well for lamp life/replacement cost, and was third for value for money in this regard.
Aesthetically, this was the most stylish unit here and would look great in the home. But unfortunately looks aren’t everything, and in comparison to the other models reviewed the PT-AE300E just couldn’t compete on a price/performance basis.
