You might think making sense of numeric error codes is no big deal now that we've got the web, but it's not quite that simple yet. Sure, the truth is out there, and the Microsoft Knowledge Base is as good a place to look as Google. However, it's a darn sight simpler just to call up this Error Messages for Windows utility and type the code in -- it then returns the description immediately. There's also a list of all the codes in numerical order, along with descriptions if you want to browse them. It's free, it works, but it would also help if the descriptions were a little more, well, descriptive.
