The second highest performer over all, the Plextor was the only submitted drive to support DVD writing higher than 4x, boasting an incredible 8x DVD+R burning capability - although tracking down appropriate media could prove to be your biggest hassle. The higher than average price tag sees this drive sailing in the HP and Sony cost departments, although those early adopters might want to hold off until 8x is slightly more mainstream and prices decrease. Hovering around the middle of the pack in the testing with 4x media, it held its own, but is hard to recommend given the lower priced and better performing BenQ and Ricoh drives.
