Samsung's smallest and most attractive mono laser, the ML-1510 is a speedy little printer with plenty of potential for the sub-$500 price bracket. So good in fact that we had to recommend it for its above average scores in all categories.
A quiet operator, we hope this spells the way of the future for the laser market -- compact, quiet and economical units with very reasonable pricing.
We found minor banding and over saturation in some areas of our test pages, but overall print quality was high. It also spooled up quickly and produced well dithered graphics and clear solid text, excellent results from a printer in this price bracket.
The third cheapest to purchase, the ML-1510 features good economy with good TCO figures, offering affordable low to moderate print loads, while heavier printing remains lower than a good proportion of the available printers we tested.
Samsung offers an above average two-year warranty on both its printers; twice that of most of the other manufacturers.
The ML-1510 also has the advantage of native Linux and Mac support in addition to Windows 98 through XP, and the driver install is nice and easy.
Just a single push button is located on the unit’s chassis, for print cancelling,
although all other controls are affected through the drivers.
Small form factor appears to be one of Samsung’s biggest concerns with this model, and the ML-1510 is much smaller than some of the larger models we've seen in the past.
With above average quality and speed, and a bargain basement price, the ML-1510 comes highly recommended for anyone looking for a solid budget mono laser.
