A good mini-cam that compromises on some features in return for high portability. It has similar specs to the MV630i but a $600 higher price, so the cost for the reduction in size is a noticeable one.
It is comparable with the other mini cameras in the lab.
The 10x optical zoom works smoothly adjusting focus and light as it goes and, like the other Canons, it's easy to operate. However, the 2-inch LCD screen was the smallest in this Labs and difficult to see in normal outdoor conditions, so you're more likely to find yourself using the viewfinder in these conditions.
It has the same still photo and print capabilities as the MV6i, which is just enough to give a small, reasonable quality print.
At a basic 380g it's not a camera that is going to weigh you down. In fact it was well under half the weight of the heaviest camera in the Labs and that will be a big selling point for a lot of consumers.
However, as value for money it did not quite match it with the two other Canons in its own stable.
