Compact form factor and functionality are the two most important features when determining an audio player's portability. The MEN-128MP3 player is certainly sturdy, with a minute ABS plastic casing. It is designed to be worn on the body, and is supplied with a lanyard to which the two quality earphones are attached.
The device is functional as more than an MP3 player, offering voice recorder in manual and voice operated mode, or it can be used as a USB pen drive with 64MB of memory. When you decide which files you would like to store, you need only drag them from one window to the other, wait the allocated amount of time (quite slow, considering it's USB) and go.
Although not covered within the manual, the USB connectivity also charges the battery of the unit, making an external power supply redundant. Unfortunately, the memory is not expandable, so you'll be changing music often.
Its user interface is less than a dream to manipulate, the controls are cumbersome, often needing several selections before you enter the menu you're after.
Overall it's not a bad multi-function unit, but as a standalone MP3 player, it's competing in a saturated market.
