The Olympus Camedia C-740 is a 3.2-megapixel camera offering images at 2,048 x 1,536, with a maximum 10x optical zoom. Offering USB connectivity, miniature xD-Picture card support and video output that allows pictures to be viewed on TV as well.
The Camedia C-740 offers manual control or automatic settings for point-and-shoot simplicity. It also features a special mode allowing users to assign frequently used settings for easy access. Boasting a range of automatic settings the C-740 also offers advanced settings including controls for aperture priority, shutter priority, and full manual operation for experienced users.
An electronic viewfinder (EVF) lets you see exactly what the CCD will capture. While it displays the same OSD on the LCD, it sometimes suffers with low refresh rates. However, it performs very well with regards to zoom, both with and without the viewfinder in use.
Build quality is excellent, and the unit offers audio and video recording. Shooting can be a little slow and the auto focus and auto-zoom tended to compete.
