The DiMAGE F300 is a 5.3-megapixel camera, with a built-in 3x optical zoom, 32MB of internal memory, and support for SD and MMC media. It's a camera that allows a good deal of control of exposure, colour, contrast, saturation, and white balance and also features a noise reduction system.
Focusing is a strong point with the F300. Featuring manual focus and a tracking system to ensure moving subjects remain sharp.
The DiMAGE F300 also features five subject presets – portrait, sports action, landscape, sunset, or night portrait, which allows it to optimise exposure based on subject and scene.
It can also record movies and audio, and the F300, like the other Minolta cameras in the round-up, offers a range of file outputs for captured images.
While the body is slim, compact and the build quality excellent, the controls near and around the LCD are a little difficult to push.
Despite tipping the thousand dollar mark, the F300 is still very much a consumer camera, that features some very impressive technology.
