Receiving this model last month, we knew we were seeing innovation in action with the introduction of OLED technology and the ultra wide and bright 2.2-inch display. OLED allows for less power consumption while providing a noticeably brighter and clearer display than other technologies – perfect for direct sunlight and angular viewing.
Supplied with a rapid Lithium-Ion battery charger, the LS633 can be up and running quickly after you've run it dead. Successor to the LS433, it's much slimmer and is able to tilt images dependant on the angle of the camera when in preview mode.
Taking well defined and vibrant colour photos in our testing, you'd be excused for thinking this was a thousand-dollar camera, but at the excellent price of $799, this is a bargain that deserves to be snapped up by the quality and budget conscious. Its image quality is certainly on par with more expensive models, and although it's easy to dismiss the OLED display as gimmicky, it elevates the camera to a higher status.
It has consumer modelling and functionality with overly bright and colourful menus and display, and although snap adjustment is fairly limited you can achieve some impressive results with the LS633.
Winning an Excellence Award when we tested it independently (May 2003), we're happy to again recommend this unit for anyone after a quality camera with a very reasonable price tag.
